I remember everyone saying "Don't get Ms. Bishar for English because she is such a hard teacher to get a good grade from." She was the best English teacher I ever had. I still remember 'The Raven' word for word. I think she was a great teacher.

Miss Bishar was known as a tough teacher, but then I landed in her Advanced English class and will never forget our discussions about our reading assignment:  Homer's Odyssey.  She was one of my best teachers ever -- East or West coast.

One day Miss Bishar was discussing The Miracle Worker with Patty Duke, which was playing on Broadway at the time.  She had attended the play, and confided in us that while she was widely known for her steely personality - she would never break down and cry at anything - this performance so moved her that tears were streaming down her cheeks.  She was a fabulous teacher and, along with Miss Romney, Mr. Boyce, and Mr. Sanzari, inspired me to become an English major in college.
